Halloween

Trick or treating for Halloween turned out to be a success! The morning/afternoon were rough and I almost didn't want to go trick or treating, but seeing Kylie have so much fun made me forget how hard the day was. I made some mummy dogs with chili and fries for dinner and Dean, Andrew and my mom stopped by. Dean was nice and helped hand out candy while Scott went trick or treating for a street or two. It started to get chilly and Scott, Andrew and Jordan headed back to the house. Kylie, my mom and I trick or treated for about another 1/2 hour. Kylie was a little shy about saying trick or treat and whenever I asked her what she should say, she said "thank you" at first. Haha. Towards the end, she started saying 'Happy Halloween' as she was leaving. She ended up with a nice haul and we let her have one treat before bedtime. Dean and Andrew left and then the kids got put to bed. I had fun sorting the candy the next day as Kylie and Jordan really don't care about their candy. I'm a bit of a weirdo, but I love that the candy is all separated into types. It was a good Halloween and I'm sure that next year will be super fun as well.

Boo at the Zoo

Saturday, October 29th we went to the zoo to trick or treat. It was so much fun! We got there around 9:30 and stayed until 2ish. Trick or treating went until 3 and we got plenty of treats. My mom came with us and we each had our own bag of candy. It was a beautiful day and the kids had a blast seeing the animals. Kylie actually really enjoyed focusing on getting candy and of course we had to ride the train and the carousel. The zoo built a new playground that is fun and so Kylie had fun playing on that. It was totally worth it to go and we ended up using what we payed for tickets that day towards a zoo membership. We are splitting one with Scott's parents and I'm so excited to have that now. We'll get to do the zoo lights for free this year and get early entrance to the Boo at the Zoo next year. With our pass, we also get unlimited rides on the carousel and train. I can't wait to start utilizing our pass.
The lion was pacing back and forth while staring down the ostrich.
Looking at the lion cubs.
Kylie showing the cow her candy. You can see the excitement in Jordan's face when he saw him.
What a fun surprise for Kylie to see some princesses!
Picking the bears nose. Haha.
Happy little Pooh bear.
On the train!
Jordan loved the Cheetos guy! He was laughing and smiling and didn't want to leave.
Look at his big smile.

October Activities

Lots of activities for October! Here we go!
On Friday, October 14th I had a girls night/Hocus Pocus party with Amanda, Janora and Elissa. We had soup, bread bowls, salad and dessert. Scott was home as well and he was so awesome and took care of the kids after dinner. He put them to bed and I felt bad as Jordan was having a really rough time going down. I sure appreciated what he did and that he let me have some time with my friends. We found out that Elissa had never seen the movie Hocus Pocus and so that made it extra fun to watch. I love having these gals live close by and I hope we do more girls nights soon.
Amanda made these awesome treats which look like the book from the movie.
On Saturday, October 22nd we were invited to a customer appreciation party from our realtor. It's been 4 years since she helped us buy our house and so it was nice to see her and talk with her again. It's impressive that she remembered the house that she bought us. We were able to take two pumpkins home for free as well as get some tiny apple cider donuts.
On Monday, the 24th we went to Jump Around Utah and carved pumpkins.
At the story time before Halloween, the kids were able to dress up in costume. The morning was crazy, so the kids didn't wear their actual costumes. They did a little trick or treat and then we tried to take some pictures in front of these photo backdrops. I like that we're doing story time again.
This one's my favorite. Kylie looks like a zombie coming out of the ground. Haha.
On Thursday, the 27th we had Scott's work party in the evening. Luckily Scott wasn't working that day so we were able to attend most of it. I made a chicken fajita soup that ended up winning the soup contest!! I was so excited that everyone loved it as it really is a delicious soup. There was a pinata and Kylie got so much candy! If she didn't care about trick or treating, she would've been fine with the amount she got there. It was fun.
We have Eeyore, Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin & Tigger
Scott and I were able to have a little date night and go bowling to celebrate Elissa's birthday. Scott's parents watched the kids and we had fun bowling. I did okay with normal bowling, but I did awful at crazy bowling (doing silly things like kick the ball, bowl w/ the opposite hand, etc.). I think I got my lowest score ever of 24!! Oh well, it was fun.
This crazy split happened!
Pumpkin cream cheese swirl muffins that Kylie helped me make.
Adorable.
We also picked carrots from our garden! They weren't super big, but they tasted fine and it was fun to see how many we got. It looks like carrots are one successful vegetable we can grow, so it will be on repeat for next year.
