April goals

April was an okay month for goals. I don't have a ton of pictures again and we didn't do a lot of art projects, but that's okay. There's one thing still left to do with the house project and that is to hang up pictures on Kylie & Jordan's room. Other than that, I did change out the pictures in the frames in the family room.
Scott and I didn't go on a date night since half of the month was of him finishing school and the other half was me preparing for my party. We did go see him play soccer and I like that we're attending games again. Kylie has the opportunity to run around and I feel good supporting Scott in what he loves. The only art activity we did was painting egg cartons. It was supposed to look like a flower, but that didn't work at all. It was something different for Kylie to paint on, though.
Our friend get together was my party and my craft projects were a few of my birthday party decorations. Pictures of those will be on my birthday post. I wasn't able to update Jordan's baby book, but I at least have the pictures to put in it. I am finally up to date with our family highlight photo books! It was fun to make those each month, so now I have to find something else to work on. It's just a photo book, but I felt some sense of accomplishment when I would get one done Actually, maybe it's a good thing I'm done so then I can work on projects around the house. Those books were fun, but they sure did take up a lot of time. Maybe, I'll work on putting some of my blog posts into a journal/book. I like the highlights, but I feel that I still want to keep the words from my blog. I'll have to figure out a way to put that together.
Scott and I are working on being more organized and making goals together. We bought a dry erase calendar and each Sunday, we'll go over plans for the week and individual goals for the week. The first Sunday of the month will be spent going over monthly goals and basic things for the month (when Scott works, soccer games,etc.). Hopefully we'll feel more accomplished and productive in all areas of life. I'll still have these goals, it'll just be easier to organize on a calendar. We've only had it for two weeks, so let's see how we do for the month of May!

Jordan's 7-months!

Jordan is now 7 months! When did that happen? He keeps looking older and bigger and he just needs to slow down! I love this little guy though and he is too much fun.
  • Jordan is sitting up now. He still falls over occasionally, but sits up fairly well now.
  • He has two bottom front teeth! He drooled for like a whole month and we think he is cutting some more teeth right now, but we're not sure where.
  • Jordan is a curious boy and loves to crawl and see what's around him. He is fast too, if he finds something he really wants.
  • He loves to smile and laugh and Kylie can really get him laughing. I love his happy energy.
  • He doesn't have a favorite toy as he likes playing with any toy we put in front of him. Right now, he is loving this toy that bounces balls up and down while playing music.
  • Jordan loves to eat and besides honey, peanut butter, milk and anything super acidic, we're going to give him pretty much anything now. He's continued with sweet potatoes, applesauce, potatoes, crackers, and watermelon.
  • He's not babbling much, but he's starting to do "b" sounds here and there.
  • One of his favorite things to do right now is head to the stairs and try to stand! I think Kylie was either standing or close to standing by this point, so we might have another early walker! But we'll see.
  • He's a momma's boy and most of the time wants me to hold him or calm him down.
No more pictures, mom!

Catching up--April

So, I haven't updated for what's happened in April at all! April was a tough month for us. It is truly hard to say what exactly happened in detail, so if you'd like to know more then give us a call. Scott is having to take a break from school for the rest of the year. He was not allowed to pass his clinical rotation for the winter semester for quite a variety of reasons that were blindsiding to Scott. As per rules, if you do not pass clinicals, then you cannot continue on in the program. He is being allowed a chance to get back in and continue on with another class and graduate a year later than what was planned. Come October/November, he will take a test and will find out if he is able to return to school in January. It was very taxing on Scott to receive this news and it was hard for him to even want to take the finals in his other classes (if he passes his other classes, then he can audit them come January and all he would have to worry about that semester is clinicals). It was and is hard for both of us to see what good could come out of this situation, but we have become more faithful and hopeful that things will be okay. Like I said, if you want to know more details about what happened, then give us a call and we'd be glad to explain in more detail.

So, the first half of April was Scott trying to finish school that semester and taking finals. He did great and passed his two other classes. While he was doing that, I was keeping the kids busy and planning my big 30th birthday party! I'll have a whole separate post about that. I will say that I don't want to go shopping much this month as I went shopping a lot in April. No matter how much I thought I covered everything, I always found out I needed something else and had to head back to the store. It sure was worth it for how wonderful my party turned out.

We did some fun activities in April, which included playing at the park, going out to dinner for a friend's birthday, spending time hanging out with in-laws, cleaning out my dresser and closet of old clothes, feeding horses, feeding ducks, going to Daybreak lake, the tulip festival (another post on that one) and lots of trips to Walmart, Smith's and Costco. Here are some random pictures from the month.
I made cream cheese won-tons from scratch!
Kylie likes to climb into Jordan's crib when he wakes up from a nap.
Kylie's garden has carrots, lettuce, peas, tomatoes & a watermelon (which might have died already).
Scott told Kylie to only paint in one section. Ha!
Nurse Kylie!
I've been curling my hair more often and I like it. I love this length of hair.
Love this picture.
She can actually move around in the car now!
We bought a bubble machine for my birthday and Kylie is obsessed.
Starting to potty train! Scott wants to work at it, but I still don't think she's ready. It's cute to see her sitting on it though.
Poor guy has eczema on his chin and cheeks.
He loves to look at himself in mirrors and phones.
I didn't catch him doing it, but he loves to chew on Scott's slippers.
Playing underneath it instead of in it.

March Goals

This is going to be a very short post, but I do need to write about it to keep me accountable for my goals. I was not able to complete my house project, so I am carrying it over to do in April. We were able to have a little date night when we went to a wedding reception for our friend Helaman. We were able to go out to eat afterwards with our friends.

We've been doing well at seeing Scott play soccer each month. Kylie loves going to see Scott play soccer. For learning activities we painted the rainbow for St. Patrick's Day, did the potato stamping for Easter and have been coloring princess pictures lately. We made lots of good treats for March as well, including Lucky charm treats, banana muffins, vanishing breakfast rolls, peanut butter kiss cookies and M&M sprinkle cookies. We saw our friends twice, but they were in combination with other things, such as Jordan's baby blessing and Helaman's wedding reception.

I did not do a craft project at all and I will carry that one over to May, as April's craft will be something different. I also didn't get to updating Jordan's baby book either. However, I was able to complete a photo book for 2014 and that one took a while! It was a fun year full of activities (I started my goals this year, so I made sure we went out and did things) and vacations (we went on 4!). I had to add quite a few extra pages, but luckily I found coupon codes that made the book cost the same as it would without adding extra pages. It is fun to look back and see the progression of life and also how much better I became at taking pictures and documenting things. I need to get the photo book for 2015 done and then I'll be caught up! I need to have it completed by my birthday as these books were a Christmas/birthday gift.

Well, sorry for the picture-less post. I hope to do better in April with my goals. We're 10 days in and I haven't done anything! Time to get busy.

Jordan's 6 Months

Jordan is 6 months old! Time has flown by. Scott just mentioned the other day how it seemed like forever ago I was pregnant. Jordan sure is acting older which makes it harder to remember what it was like when he was a newborn. There are so many fun things that he's up to.
  • He is crawling now! Well, he is mostly army crawling still, but the fact that he is mobile makes it hard to keep up with him. You won't see him stay in one spot for very long.
  • He gives hugs when you pick him up. Sometimes he'll pinch my neck or grab my hair, but it's so precious to receive that hug from him. I feel so much love for him every time he does that.
  • Jordan is eating more solids now! So far he's tried avocados, peas, squash, bananas and now cheerios. He'll be trying sweet potatoes and applesauce next.
  • He is becoming my chubby monkey. His cute chubby legs and cheeks get me every time.
  • Since he is becoming more interactive, Kylie enjoys playing with Jordan a lot more now. She loves to give him toys to play with and she hates when he has to go take a nap that every time she hears him move on the monitor, she wants to rush up to his crib to see him. There's been a few times where she's climbed into his crib and just hangs out with him. Kylie is going to love it when he can walk and run and really be able to keep up with her.
  • We have moved him from the cradle in our room to his crib. He's starting to want to be rocked to sleep every night, which is fine, but the hard part is that I can't sit down to do it. Sometimes it takes a while and so my arms and back get tired of holding him.
  • Speaking of sleep, the little stinker still doesn't sleep as much as he should. He still only takes cat naps during the day and wakes up once or twice during the night. He is very different from Kylie as she was already sleeping through the night by 5-months. It makes it a little difficult to get things done during the day, but I can't complain as he is a happy boy.
