Swing Set

Scott had mentioned about how having a swing set in our yard could be fun for our kids. I agreed with him, but I didn't want to pay a ridiculous amount of money to get one. So, we went to the yard sale sites to see what we could find. Scott ended up finding a very simple swing set (for only $30!), but he needed to take it down and then put it back together. He enlisted the help of his brother Andrew to help take the swing set apart and then our friend Chris (who has a truck) to help bring it to our house. With little help from me, Scott put together the swing set by himself. I ordered new swings and we got a few new pieces of wood and we spent a Saturday putting it together. The kids have loved it since we finished. They ask almost daily to go out and swing on the swings. They love to go down the slide as well and it's amazing how having your own swings and slide in your yard can provide a lot of fun.I think the next step is to get a trampoline. ;)

Pioneer Day Hike

On Monday, July 24th, we went on a hike to Silver Lake. We had been there once when Kylie was younger and so we knew how easy of a hike it is for little kids. Jordan had a blast getting dirty and Kylie took a little stuffed bear and went on a bear cave hunt. The kids did a great job hiking and climbing rocks and after the hike we headed to grandma's house for lunch and relaxing. It was a fun way to celebrate the holiday.

Bee's Baseball Game

On Saturday, July 22nd, we went to a Bee's baseball game with my mom. They were having fireworks after the game because it was 24th of July weekend. We bought general tickets and sat on the grass. It ended up working out well because it gave the kids the ability to move and run around as they pleased. There is a little playground for kids to play at, but there were so may kids there that it was hard for Kylie and Jordan to play on it at all. We did get to see the mascot and Kylie got her arm signed by him! Jordan was in heaven looking at the bee and all the pictures of the bee around the stadium. The kids were getting restless towards the end, but it was worth it to stay for the fireworks at the end. The kids loved seeing them close up. We were debating on going to the game because of the long week we had, but I'm glad we made the decision to go. It just isn't summer without going to a baseball game.

Gardner Village

Scott had to work on his birthday, but the kids and I took him some lunch to his work. After work, Scott had two soccer games to play and so we headed over there to watch them. All of Scott's family (including Kristene and Steve) came to watch his soccer games as well. During his break between his two games, we walked over to the farm that's at Gardner Village. The kids had fun seeing all the animals and all the animals are up for adoption at the farm. After the farm all of us, except Kristene, watched Scott's second soccer game. It didn't feel like a huge celebration for his birthday, but Scott spent it doing something that he loves and that's all that matters.
