Sunday, August 9th, started early with going to church at 9am. Kyle is a nursery leader, so we hung out with him in nursery the whole time. Their nursery is nice with a rocking chair, pictures on the wall and lots of toys. Kylie had a lot of fun playing in nursery. When we got back from church, we fed Kylie a quick lunch and then put her down for a nap. In the process of putting her to sleep, I fell asleep as well! Scott woke me up when it was time to eat, but Kylie slept a little longer. All of Kyle's siblings came over for lunch as they live close by and they're all in the same ward. After that, it seemed that there was too much going on to be able to play games and we didn't want to arrive at David & Kristene's too late, so we left around 4:30pm. It was good to see Brianna and Kyle and we pawned Kylie off on them as much as we could since their time to see her was so short. Kylie warmed up to both of them pretty quickly since she wasn't sure she remembered who they were at first. We had dinner back in San Bernadino and then went on a walk to the park before bedtime. It was a nice, relaxing day.
Monday, August 10th, was another relaxing day. Kristene was nice and took Abrie and Kylie shopping, so Scott and I were able to go out to lunch at Farmer Boys. We made a plan to only eat at places that are in California and we stuck to that plan! After lunch, the girls went down for a nap and we just hung out and watched TV. Around 3:30pm, we headed to the neighborhood pool. Kylie had so much fun and loved jumping in the pool from the side. We had to take her out a few times to warm her up and she hated when we did that to where she was only out for a few minutes before wanting back in. Around 6, Scott's parents, Andrew and David showed up and we had a dinner of hot dogs, chips and fruit. Kylie got some fun presents from her family in California, one of her favorites being a baby doll. We had a Costco cake for her and she loved eating all the frosting off of it. After eating, we noticed that there was a group of ladies doing Zumba around the corner. Kylie and Abrie kept running over there to dance with them and it was super cute to watch. I should have gotten a video because they were dancing fools and did not want to leave. Once we got back to the house, the kids went down for bed while the adults sat and talked for a bit. We went to bed at 11pm, woke up at 5:30am and left for Utah by 6:00am!
It was a fabulous vacation and we stuck to our agenda the whole time! I love it when that happens. Everything ran pretty smoothly and there were no huge hiccups, which makes a vacation so rewarding and memorable. I'm so glad that this trip turned out well as it's probably the last big family vacation since Scott's program has started up again.

California Vacation Day 5: Safari Park
Saturday, August 8th, we made sure to get some rest, so we didn't
start heading down to San Diego until around 10. David & Kristene
were planning on coming to the Safari Park with us, but after dropping
Andrew off and ordering Kylie's birthday cake from Costco, they decided
it was too late to drive all the way down. We picked up Brianna, Kyle
and Kyle's mom (to get us in for free) and headed to the Safari
Park. Brianna and Kyle's sister-in-law met up with us there to get us
in for free as well. It was so nice of them to stop by and do that for
us. We headed straight to watch the bird show and met up with our
friend Austin! He was also in Escondido visiting his sister and found
out we were in town by the picture of us at the beach I posted on
Facebook. I met Austin at BYU-Idaho and Scott met him through a class
at UVU. He is the one that threw the ugly sweater party that we met
at. It was great to chat with him and see that things are going good.
He had to leave to go to a baseball game and we rode the tram. We
checked out some other animals and then left around 5. After a few days
of packed activities, I was starting to feel a little worn out. I'm
glad we got in for free or else I would have wanted to stay longer to
make sure we got our money's worth and possibly over do it. Scott
wanted to make dinner, so we made chicken parmesan (the quick version with frozen chicken patties).
We were going to grill donuts, but saved it for the next day.
Everyone, but me, jumped into the pool and Kylie had a blast. They have
a tiny slide that goes straight in and she loved going down that over
and over. It was dark outside, so I didn't take any pictures, but I'm
sure I could have by using a flash. Oh well. It was a fun day with
family.

California Vacation Day 4: The Beach
Friday, August 7th, was beach day!! The morning was a little crazy as we wanted to head down there around 10, but David accidentally took the keys to the car that had Kylie's car seat in it. He didn't realize it at first, so we were looking forever for them. Kristene finally found some key that was able to unlock the doors and get it out, so we were able to still go and left around 11. We arrived to Newport Beach a little after 12 and it was perfect. We found an amazing parking spot and David & Kristene let us borrow this pop-up tent and some beach chairs. Kylie was a little leery of the waves at first, but warmed up to them pretty quickly. She also loved the sand, which I wasn't too surprised at considering she would play in the dirt in our front yard any chance she could. It was so great to watch her have so much fun and I'm glad that she enjoyed her first time to the beach. Our friends Skylar and Heather took half days off work and met us at the beach. It was so fun to see them and talk with them. They were good friends of ours in Provo and it's awesome that they're still good friends now.
Because of miscommunication, we left later than we should have and got stuck in some heavy traffic. It took an extra hour to get back and still had to stop and pick up Andrew. We thought we were so late to David's birthday party and felt bad, but I guess no one they invited showed up so it worked out still. Everyone, but me, went go-kart racing and they all had a blast. I know that if I wasn't pregnant, I totally would have gone as well. Things got a little stressful after the beach, but the night ended well.
