2 Years Old

Scott and I officially have a two-year old!!  Kylie is growing like a weed, but I think I'll always call her my baby.  We had a fun time celebrating her birthday in California and we did a little something when we got home as well.  My mom came over with cupcakes and we sang happy birthday to her.  We didn't have any plain candles, so we used a zero candle that was in the cupboard.  Kylie was not fond of the fire and refused to get close to blow it out.  She did enjoy her cupcake though and opened some presents from my mom.
Here are some things Kylie is up to as a two-year old trouble maker.

Kylie is still into very physical activities.  Her favorite activity is to just run and she loves it even more if she's running with someone her own size.  She will join in with any kid who is running.  Kylie is also becoming a pro-climber which hopefully I can control as I don't want any climbing onto counters.  She also is enjoying music and dancing more which is so fun to see.  The only times where you don't see her moving is when she's sleeping or right when she wakes up from a nap.
Jumping on the trampoline with Aaron and mom.
For other activities, Kylie still loves to read books and especially loves her new book that makes a variety of noises.  Putting puzzles together is something that Kylie is becoming really good at. I got her a mickey mouse puzzle for her birthday and she knows the characters so well that she didn't need any help in finding where they went.  I've put off a lot of arts and crafts because she still puts things in her mouth, but she is becoming better at not doing that.  I've had her try out these watercolor type markers and finger paint and she did great.  Of course, she only painted on herself instead of paper, but if it doesn't go in her mouth then I don't care. (pictures of the finger paint are on a separate post)
Her talking is still not a lot, but she does know a lot of words.  The frustrating thing is that she knows the word, but she won't say it without prompting.  Scott and I are trying to get her to say what she wants or needs instead of giving it to her when she points.  I think it is helping her realize that if she wants something, she needs to tell us.  As always, it's fun to hear her say words that she's learned from other sources besides us.

Kylie did great at her two year check-up with her new doctor.  The one we had before moved to California, so it was our first time meeting her and I liked her.  Kylie is 34.2 inches and in the 55% for height.  She weighs 24lbs and is in the 39% for weight.  She is growing like she should and there are no problems!  I love that every doctor visit has been one without issues which means that Kylie is a healthy girl.

Sadly, we have not escaped the tantrums that come with the toddler years.  Luckily, the tantrums aren't awful, but have gotten to the point of needing to implement time-out.  Kylie is starting to learn that it is no fun when mom and dad say no.  She also gets frustrated when we want her to talk to us and she can't/won't tell us what she wants.  Distractions sometime works and other times, she just needs time to calm down.  Oh, Kylie loves being tickled!  She asks to be tickled every morning and is the only kid I know who likes being tickled.  It's fun to see how much she loves it and it can help stop a tantrum from coming on, so it's a win-win.

Kylie still loves Frozen and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  She likes most new Disney movies that we show her, but will go through phases on how often she watches them.  Her latest obsession was The Lion King.  Oh! Kylie can also show you where a lot of different body parts are.  She knows all the parts to "head, shoulders, knees & toes", arms, hands, fingers, legs, feet, back, bum, belly, chin, cheeks and neck.  She also still likes to sing songs and is quick at picking up actions to songs as well.

I'm sure that I could write more as I continue watching Kylie because there are so many little, new things that she does.  I feel like I discover something new almost every day.  I'm taking it one day at a time and enjoying the journey of being her mom.

34 Weeks

How is it that I only have 6 weeks left?!  I am feeling a little anxious for this boy to come.  There's some hope in the back of my mind that he comes early, but I feel unready for him to come as well.  The nursery is painted, but the furniture needs to be moved around and there's little things that need to be bought and done.  Hopefully getting everything ready will keep me busy and time will move quickly.

I am sure that it will take time for me to adjust to having two kids instead of only one.  I am sure that I will struggle and probably have a hard time with it.  I am sure that Kylie will struggle with having a baby around the house as well.  I am sure that I will put pressure on myself to make sure that Scott's schoolwork does not suffer.  I am also sure that Kylie will love her brother and be such a great helper to me.  I am sure that she will surprise me with how well she does with a baby.  I am sure that Scott will be able to balance school, work and a crazy wife. :)  I wish I could say that I am sure that I will be fine, but I just really don't know.  I am sure that I'll be needing lots of encouragement once the little man gets here.  I'll also probably be saying lots of prayers to get me through at least the first 6 weeks.  Despite my worries, I am excited to meet the newest member of our little family.  I can't believe we'll be a family of 4 in a few weeks!
