1 Month

Jordan is one month old! Time is flying by with this cute boy.  Things have been going great with him and we all love him.  Jordan still has his nights and days confused, which makes it a little bit difficult for me.  He is getting better at sleeping longer periods during the night though, so hopefully we'll get him on a correct schedule soon.  His favorite place to sleep is in someone's arms.  He also really enjoys sleeping on his tummy, which makes baby wearing him easy.  Let's see...Jordan is really a great baby.  He doesn't cry much and he isn't too fussy.  He does have times at night where he'll just grunt and make noises for a bit.  He likes to be swaddled, but will pull his arms out as he likes to sleep with them up in the air.

At his two-week appointment, he weighed 8.5lbs, which is amazing that he was over his birth weight!  I loved that I didn't have to worry about weight like I did with Kylie.  It was super stressful worrying about whether or not your child is getting enough to eat and I'm so glad that there hasn't been that concern with Jordan.  He also gained an inch and is 21 inches now.  He still wears newborn clothes, but went up a size in diapers already.

I'm excited to be doing these monthly pictures again and I love that the stickers are shaped like a tie.  It'll be fun to see Jordan's stats in a month and see how much he's grown because he sure is growing like a weed.

Weekly Wednesday Recap

1. First things first, the Kansas City Royals won the World Series!! The last time they won was in 1985, so it's been 30 years since the last time they won the world series.  The Royals made it to the world series last year, but lost to the San Fransisco Giants and it was a bummer.  I am so happy that they made it and won this year!!  The Royals made baseball super exciting to watch as they would be losing and then come back to win in the 8th or 9th innings!  I sure wish I was in Kansas City to have gone to a game and to celebrate back home.  I will have to settle for buying Royals gear out there and being a fan in Utah.
I made celebratory cookies the night they won!
2. Speaking of Kansas City, I am headed out there next Wednesday, the 11th!  All my siblings are headed out there as well to spend time with dad and Roberta and see the BYU vs. Missouri football game.  We are sad that Scott can't come out, but he has school that he can't miss.  It will be the first time I'll be away from Scott for more than a day.  I'll also be flying out there by myself with Kylie and Jordan.  I'm doing lots of research and figuring everything out to make the flight smooth and I pray that everything goes well.  I'll miss Scott a lot, but I am excited to spend time in Missouri and spend time with family.

3. Brita gave us a large fruit basket when Jordan was born and in it was a coconut.  Scott took it out to the garage to open and had Kylie help.  We're not a fan of drinking the coconut water though and I don't like eating it either.  So, we just had fun opening it and then got rid of it.
4. Kylie has always been one to let us know what she wants and what she doesn't want.  One day, we were watching TV and a commercial for pizza came on.  Kylie saw it and immediately started asking for pizza.  It was a little late to make her pizza for lunch, so she had something else and then went down for a nap.  When Scott got her up from her nap, the first thing out of her mouth was asking him for pizza.  I looked at our ingredients and Kylie was lucky that we were able to make mini pizzas for dinner.  She was so happy and ate them right up.  It was funny and cute to see how much she wanted something, all because she saw it on TV.
5. Since bringing Jordan home, Kylie likes to hold him quite often.  She'll ask to hold him and we'll get her all set up to do so.  Sometimes she'll hold him for a quick second and other times, she gets upset if I take him away to feed him or something.  Kylie really does love her brother and checks up on him all the time.  The only thing she does that worries me is if I leave him on the couch or floor, she'll sometimes pick him up to hand him to me.  She hasn't dropped him (yet) and has even brought him to me while I'm going to the bathroom (that has been interesting).  Kylie gives him kisses and is so excited to check on him in the morning.  I love watching her help take care of him (helps get diapers, wipes, pacifier, etc.) and I'm so glad that she's adjusted fairly well to having a new brother.

Halloween

Halloween was chill this year.  Costumes were minimal and I was okay with that, but I think it will be fun to do a family theme next year.  For breakfast, I made Kylie a "scary face" pancake.  Last year, we went to IHOP as Kylie got a scary face pancake for free and it was fun, but not worth the crowd.  So, I decided to just make our own this year.  We spent the rest of the day relaxing and then we headed to Brita's for trick or treating.  Last year, Kylie didn't really understand the concept of trick or treating, but she got the hang of it this year.  At first, she was just excited to be out of the house and ran past the homes.  After a few homes, she started saying "trick or treat" and "thank you" all on her own.  Since Kylie doesn't really have a favorite candy, she would just grab the first piece she saw.  So, a lot of her candy are things like Skittles, starburst, etc.  I did convince her to grab a full-sized Reese's Peanut Butter Cup though.  I'll have to teach her to go for the good stuff--the chocolate, instead. :)  After trick or treating, we stayed at Brita's to talk and watch the Royal's play in the World Series.  It was a fun night and we were glad to spend it with family.
Kylie painted the pumpkin a few days before Halloween.
Jordan went as a cute bear.
Best picture I could get of Kylie and her whole outfit.  She went as a cat.

Jordan's Newborn Pictures

Getting Jordan's newborn pictures was a much better experience than Kylie's.  I asked Facebook again for recommendations, but I really made sure to do my research this time.  I ended up finding someone who lived close to us and had an actual photo studio in their house.  The photographer was really great and made sure we were comfortable.  She was really good with Kylie and getting her to sit and smile for pictures.  It was nice that when Kylie was done with pictures, she was able to play with her son.  Jordan did great and I love the pictures that we got.  I'm so glad that the experience was much more enjoyable than last time we got newborn pictures taken.
