Wednesday Weekly Recap

This recap is also from 2 weeks ago.  This last week I was in a funk and we stayed home pretty much all week.  For some reason, it was hard for me to find motivation to do anything so we chilled at home quite a bit.  Maybe it's because the week before was more busy, I don't know, but I couldn't believe how lazy I was.  Relaxing for a day or two is fine, but a whole week is a little much.

Monday, the 13th was a busy day.  It started out with a doctor's appointment.  Technically, it was an ultrasound appointment to check some things on the placenta and the baby's kidneys.  After that, I stayed at Brita's while Scott drove down to American Fork for another dentist appointment.  Brita's kids had some friends over and Kylie loved hanging out with so many people.  She actually took a quick nap upstairs while everyone was playing downstairs.  After Scott got back, we headed home for a few hours until it was time to head to Daybreak Lake.  We met up with Brita and her friend Pam there, who had kayaks to be used.  We had dinner and watched Kylie play.  It was a good preview for how much she'll love the beach when we head out to California.  Scott headed to his soccer game while the rest of us went to Pam's to roast some s'mores.  It was a fun evening.
Tuesday, Scott was at work and I spent most of the day getting the house cleaned and ready for Becky, who was coming into town the next day.  I found out that at Chick-fil-a, you could get a free meal for dressing like a cow.  So, I cut out a few spots to tape onto me and Kylie and we headed to Chick-fil-a for our free meal!  The plan was to stay inside and eat so Kylie could play at the play place, but we went during lunch so it was busy.  The place did really well for moving fast and we got our food pretty quickly.  It was fun to get out and do that!  Later that night, I made lasagna cups for dinner and Kylie helped put them together.  Granted, she ate more cheese than she sprinkled on, but it was cute to see her help.
Wednesday was spent cleaning the house a little more and then heading to a BBQ with people from Scott's nurse practitioner program that evening.  We dropped Kylie off at Brita's, where Becky was, and headed to the BBQ.  It was fun to meet the people who Scott will be with the next two years.
Thursday was a crazy day.  Scott and Becky started the day by priming the baby's room.  While they were doing that, I figured I'd take Kylie to the park.  While backing the car out of the garage, I completely spaced that Becky had parked in the driveway and ran into the side of her car.  I was so embarrassed and couldn't believe that it happened.  Luckily the damage wasn't extreme and Becky was really nice about it.  Scott had another dentist appointment later in the afternoon and then we headed to Brita's to hang out and play games.

Friday, Becky spent the day with Brita while we spent the day at home.  That evening, my mom came over to baby-sit Kylie while Scott and I went to see a movie for his birthday.  We saw Jurassic World and it was actually a really good, fun movie!  We got some frozen yogurt afterwards and went on a little walk.  It was nice to have a date night.

Saturday was another busy day.  I spent the morning making the ice cream batter and cake for Scott's birthday.  Then while Scott was painting the baby's room, I headed to the zoo with Brita and everyone else.  Their passes are able to get guests in for free so it was nice not to have to pay for just a few hours at the zoo.  That night, we headed to Brita's for a night of game playing as that's something Scott wanted for his birthday.  We played Clue: Museum Caper, Settlers of Catan and Bang.  We were there until after midnight.
Sunday was Scott's birthday!  We went to church and had a dinner of ribs, baked potatoes and veggies.  That night, we had people over for some cake and ice cream!  We had a full house and it was great to chat with everyone.  I made homemade raspberry ice cream and it was delicious, but it didn't harden up quite as much as I wanted, so it was a little melted.  I hope Scott knows how loved he is by everyone in his life.  I hope he knows how much Kylie loves him as her daddy.  I hope he knows how much I love him as his best friend and wife.  I loved celebrating this birthday with him and I can't wait to keep celebrating more!

Wednesday Weekly Recap

This recap is from 2 weeks ago and not too much happened that week.  There were a few busy days and a few lazy days.  Monday, I tried hard to remember what happened and I have no clue except that we went to the park.  I think it's safe to assume that if nothing else happens that day, you can count on us taking a trip to the park.  Tuesday, we headed down to American Fork for Scott's dentist appointment.  He'd been having a mild toothache for a few weeks and when it really started causing pain, he decided to go see someone.  He called a dentist who said he couldn't do anything since it was too far back and sent him to a root canal specialist.  Scott really enjoyed the specialist and made getting a root canal look pain free.  While he was at the dentist, Kylie and I went to IHOP for $.57 pancakes.  It wasn't busy at all and a fun little activity for the two of us.  After that, we found a park close by to play at until Scott was finished.  Later that night, we headed to Home Depot to look at paint samples for the baby's room.  We decided to paint the room a gray color as it's a clean slate and I can decorate however I'd like.  I don't have any ideas at the moment, so it's nice that I can do a lot with gray walls.
Wednesday, Kylie and I headed up to my Aunt Debbie's house to pick some raspberries from their garden.  We weren't able to pick a lot as it started pouring rain on us!  It was also a little difficult because Kylie wanted to be held by me the whole time which cuts into how many raspberries I could get.  We headed back home, I cleaned the house and then made some mini pizzas for dinner.
Thursday, Kylie was feeling a little sick in the morning and took a super long nap in the afternoon.  I was able to go grocery shopping and clothes shopping by myself!  Sometimes it is nice to have a break and not take Kylie with me everywhere.  Kylie was feeling better later that night so we went to play at the park.  Friday was a super lazy day and we stayed at home all day.  Saturday was a busier day.  Since I wasn't able to pick many raspberries on Wednesday, Debbie was nice and let us come up again Saturday morning to pick more!  Scott was happy he was able to come this time and we ended up with quite a few.  I didn't want to make any jam with them this year as we still have a lot of jam from years past.  So, I froze a few bags, we ate a container and then I saved some to make homemade ice cream for Scott's birthday.  We love that we have family that allows us to come and  indulge in delicious fruit.  After picking raspberries, Kylie went to her first birthday party!  It was very nice that Kylie was invited to this party and she had a ton of fun.  It made me a little excited for when she gets older and birthday parties become a regular thing.  As usual, we ended the day with going to the park.
Cute picture. Too bad Kylie's face is half covered.
So many raspberries!

27, almost 28 Weeks

I've pretty much reached the third trimester!  About 3 months until this baby comes and we've got some things to do!  We are working on figuring out what to paint the nursery (leaning towards some type of gray) and then I'll go with a theme from there.  I might even just do a color theme and change it up as he gets older.  We don't want to spend a lot of money on decorating his nursery, so it'll be pretty simple.  That's the number one thing to finish before Scott starts school at the end of August.  I also want to get started on "spring cleaning" each room before the baby comes as well.  I sure hope I can get it done.

I'm feeling fine and I have lots of energy one day and no energy another day.  I can also go longer periods of time without eating, which is actually quite nice.  It got a little exhausting having to eat all the time. Haha.  Well, here is another questionnaire!

How far along?: 27, 28 weeks on Monday.
Total weight gain/loss?: I've gained at least 15 lbs, but I don't pay much attention.
Maternity clothes?:Yes.  I went shopping for more last night as I started to resort to wearing some of Scott's shirts.  I hope the weather stays warm in September because I am not buying anymore clothes!
Stretch marks?: None that are noticeable.
Sleep?: It's going better.  I just go to bed late and then Kylie wakes up early, so I'm super tired in the morning.
Missing anything?: Being able to walk without a little waddle.
Movement?: Yep! He'll roll around whenever he wants, but especially after I eat something sweet.
Food cravings?: Right now, ice cream is pretty delicious.
Anything making you queasy or sick?:Not really
Have you started to show yet?: I'm going to say yes.
Gender: Baby Boy!!
Labor signs: No way!
Belly button in or out: Still an innie.
Wedding ring on or off: On, but I need to be careful when I'm outside for too long as my fingers start to swell.
Happy or moody most of the time: A little moody when I'm tired, but I'm pretty happy. :)
Looking forward to: Getting the nursery painted and set up.

Wednesday Weekly Recap

Monday, I went to a doctor's appointment. I had to take the glucose test and the drink really wasn't as awful as people make it out to be.  They never called me, which means my results are normal and I don't have gestational diabetes.  The visit with the doctor was short as everything is going well, but he did surprise me when he said he would see me in a month and then the time in between visits will become shorter. Say that again?  Hearing that sure made me think of how quickly this pregnancy is going.  I am due in October, but it's the beginning so there's only about 3 months left! Ah!  This summer is flying by and the faster the summer goes, the sooner it is to meet our baby boy!  I need to stop talking about this and it is just too crazy to think about.  I dropped Kylie off at Brita's while I went to the appointment and she had fun, as always.  It's been nice to have Brita live so close to be able to not worry about taking Kylie to my doctor appointments.

Tuesday, not much happened except playing at the park with Kylie.  She loves the park now.  Every time we get in the car, she immediately says "park" and points exactly to where the two parks near our house are.  The hot weather during the day does make it hard to want to go outside, so we'll spend a little time in the afternoon and then longer in the evening when it's cooler.  She is getting so good at climbing the steps to the slides.
Wednesday, I can't really remember what happened, but we did go and "watch" Scott play soccer.  I put watch in quotes as Kylie just runs around the whole time, so I don't really get to see the game.  She'll stop occasionally and point to the ball or to try to see daddy, but for the most part she just runs in circles.  I guess I forgot to write down what we did Thursday as again, I can't remember what happened.  This baby is seriously taking up all of my brain cells.

Friday was a busy, but fun day.  We started out the day by shopping at the D.I. and we found this wood letter to hang in the nursery and an amazing golf bag (it was brand new with tags and worth at least $100 and we got it for $6) for Lane.  After that, we headed down to Orem to see the "candy bomber" Gail Halvorsen.  We met up with Brita and the event was fine, but it was definitely a little disorganized.  There needed to be an area clear for him to drop the candy, but no one exactly knew where that area was.  He also did a test drop (which no one really knew about) and so when people started running to get the candy, he wasn't able to drop the rest of the candy with everyone running around.  It was a little windy too, so I guess homes close by got the parachutes in their backyard!  It was hot and crowded, but Kylie had fun playing with her cousins.
After that, we hung out with our friends Bryan and Natalie.  We talked, had pizza and played Wii games.  I'm pretty sure we always play some type of game when we get together with them.  It had been a while since we'd seen them, so it was fun.  Saturday was 4th of July and that's all in a separate post.  The week was slower in the beginning and then became busy at the end.  I know I'm not doing an amazing job at keeping with the schedule I wanted to do at the beginning of the summer.  I know I have days that are lazy and days that are busy; there isn't really a consistent schedule yet.  Oh well, as long as something happens each day, it's a success in my book.

4th of July

The 4th of July was fun this year!  I made sure that Scott didn't work this year since he's worked every 4th since we've been married.  The plan was to go swimming at the rec center just up the street from us, but Brita extended an invitation to go swimming at her in-law's house.  I thought about it the morning of and figured that free and friends sounded more fun.  Kylie loves swimming, especially if she has a friend to swim with.  We stayed a few hours and then headed home to have dinner with my mom and Aaron.  I love this holiday as the food is just so patriotic and fun!  I was excited to try out some new recipes since I didn't do much last year.  Instead of hamburgers and hot dogs, we had chicken & veggie kabobs with grilled corn.  Kabobs aren't a hard thing to make, but they're just the type of food you make for a crowd, not one or two people.  We also had watermelon and blueberry wands; red, white & blue strawberries; cupcakes and a cake.  Everything was delicious.

After dinner, we set off some fireworks that my mom bought and everyone, but me, went to the park to fly the kite my mom also brought.  We found out that Kylie does not like fireworks up close when we went to a neighborhood firework party.  She might have been okay with the big ones in the sky, but I didn't want to risk her being upset and deal with the crowds that come with going to see fireworks (especially while pregnant).  After Kylie went to bed, we played a round of Ticket to Ride with the movie Independence Day on in the background.  Like I said, it was a very enjoyable 4th of July! Despite all the bad things going on in the country today, America is still a great place to live and I am grateful for all who have sacrificed to give us what we have.
Patriotic dinner the next night,
