Wednesday Weekly Recap

This last week was busy and different as Scott was home more! I got spoiled and now I want him home all the time, haha. I worked at Scott's parents house twice last week since I wasn't able to the week before. Scott's parents are great and allowing me an opportunity to earn some money. I am going over and helping out Nadine with all her genealogy work. I put items onto Family Search and scan documents into the computer. We look over details together and notice if anything seems off. I'm really glad that I'm able to help her out with this as I know how important genealogy is to her. Family history has never been something that interested me much and so I'm also grateful for the opportunity to understand the importance of it. Besides being able to earn some money, it also gives them time to spend with Kylie and Jordan. Kylie loves her Uncle Andrew and she wears him out every time! It's quite humorous to see how tired he is by the time we leave. Right now, I've been going over every Friday and when I need or want an extra day, then I go over on Mondays. It's actually a day of the week that I look forward to.

On Sunday, it was the Superbowl and we went to grandma's to have dinner and watch the game. The commercials weren't that great and half time was boring. The game was okay and the Denver Broncos ended up winning. We had some yummy food and it was a good time.
On Tuesday, the 8th, I met up with my friend Teresa at IKEA! I've heard that the kids dishes there are the best and so I wanted to pick some up. We met around lunch time and kids meals are free on Tuesday. So, I got food for Kylie and a $1 cinnamon roll, meaning that lunch was a whole dollar! Talk about a good deal. We're trying to do a play date once a week and Kylie is having fun with her new friend Dylan. Their favorite section in the whole store was the fake flowers to where we both ended up buying them some. Kylie still loves her flower.
On Thursday, Scott took the day off from clinicals so that he could study for his test (which he did great on). He also had a work training he needed to attend, so it worked out. While he was there, I went to WIC to talk to them about my milk supply. Jordan's been getting up a lot during the night and it's mostly because he doesn't get much when he breastfeeds anymore. I still have milk, but it's not enough to keep him satisfied anymore. At almost 4.5 months, he shouldn't be eating every 2 hours anymore. It was getting tiring having to get up every 2, sometimes 1, hours a night. So, we started supplementing with formula. WIC let me take home a hospital grade pump to see if that helps, but I'm still getting the same amount. It's frustrating to think that I was doing so well before Jordan got sick. Since starting formula, he's actually sleeping 4-5 hours at a time. I'm going to continue to breastfeed, along with doing formula, as long as I can.

We're also starting rice cereal with Jordan! He's still getting used to  eating it, but he hated it the first time we tried. He would not take any of it!
These next pictures are the second time we tried. He liked it a little more, but he'd still rather chew on his hands.
Kylie "helped" me make cookies one day. I say "helped" because all she did was pour in the chocolate chips and then lick the batter. Haha. She got her momma's sweet tooth, that's for sure. I also tried a stuffed pepper and made a whole meal in muffin tins. We've been doing great at not eating out (once this month!) and I've been sticking to my meal plans.
Lasagna cups & garlic pull apart rolls
Speaking of food, I got the best Valentine's Day dessert! I was shopping on Saturday morning and texted Scott if I needed to buy some flowers or chocolate covered strawberries. He told me to hang on and then called and told me that we'd be going to his parents house for dessert. He found this video on Facebook and had his parents help him re-create it. It looked like a 5-start dessert and it was so much fun! I was in such awe that they would all go to so much trouble to make it. It was so fun to see it melt away. They made a white chocolate ball, which got put over a small brownie and ice cream (which was frozen, so it wouldn't melt quickly). Then, they melted some dark chocolate which got poured over top and melted away the white chocolate ball to reveal the brownie and ice cream underneath. It was so cool! Scott is one awesome husband.
On actual Valentine's Day, we had a friend get together as it was Chris' birthday! He got a Batman cake and it totally turned Kylie's mouth black. Haha, it was hilarious to see. We love getting together with our friends.

Jordan's 4-Months

Jordan is 4-months now! I'm pretty sure that he is going through a growth spurt as he wants to eat all the time. I also think that I may be losing my milk, which might also be why he is hungry often. Luckily, we can start him on rice cereal soon, so hopefully that will fill him up a little more. I need this little boy to start sleeping longer at night! I also want to get him into his crib this month as well. I know Kylie was about 5 months when she started sleeping through the night and it was also when we started feeding her food. At his doctor's appointment, it looked like he lost a pound since the last time we were there, so the doctor is having us come back in two weeks. We've been going through my freezer storage to help him feel a little more full. I sometimes forget that he's growing up and the older he gets, the more he will eat. I'm doing what I can to keep my supply, but we're thinking he might be on formula here in a month or two. Luckily, I can get formula free through WIC, so that will help as formula is expensive and we don't have the money for that. His stats are: Weight: 12.25 lbs (he's lost a bit of weight) and Height: 25.5 in. 70%.
  • Jordan rolled over 3 times in one day! I got him doing it on video twice, but of course he hasn't done it since. So, I'm pretty sure it was just a fluke when he did roll over.
  • He doesn't full on giggle yet, but I get him pretty close quite often. It is so fun to see his huge smile and to see what gets him so excited.
  • Jordan is starting to grab at toys now and his eyes get really wide when he sees them. There's a toy hanging on the bouncer and every time he sits in it, he likes to kick at it.
  • Speaking of kicking, he loves to kick when he's excited, which is all the time. He also loves to stand.
  • He loves attention. It's fun to see him smile whenever Kylie says hi to him. Today, I was playing with her and he was upset until I looked and talking with him.
  • His hands are his favorite thing to chew on. He drools so much when he chews on them.
  • He is a little bit smaller for being 4 months. It's interesting to look back at what Kylie was doing at this time and to see such a difference. He looks so tiny in the bumbo compared to her.

Wednesday Weekly Recap

So, this last week was tough. It was the first week where Scott was gone every single day, except Sunday. He also had a test that weekend as well, so there was that added pressure. Sunday wasn't a complete free day either, as we had a friend's birthday party to go to (Briella's first birthday). It was very exhausting for both of us. I know that the weekends he has a test will be more stressful than others, but hopefully we'll get into a routine that will help us all adjust. It seems that we're all on the mend from sickness, which I'm glad as I want to be able to leave the house without worry. I know that Kylie is needing to get out and use up some energy and it's good for me to get out as well. Whenever I let Kylie out to play in the snow, she only stays out for about 15 minutes. I'm sure she'd stay out longer if I was out there with her, but I don't want Jordan outside for a long time. I'm going to keep him cooped up until spring/summer. I don't want him getting sick like that ever again. He has got me paranoid now. My mom came over last Saturday and was able to play outside with Kylie. She loved it and they had fun building a snowman and sledding. She was so upset when I had to bring her inside, it was cute.
This is a short recap, but that's what's been going on!

January Goals

For taking a year off from making goals, I'm doing pretty well at keeping them again. It's definitely keeping me a little more busy and I actually like that. There were a few things that I didn't get accomplished, but I'm not too upset by it. I got half of my house project completed. I cleaned up the downstairs, but I didn't get around to filing away the mail. It's been a while, so I still need to do that. We went to one of Scott's soccer games last month and it's not bad since I just wear Jordan in the carrier. A lot of his games are after Kylie's bed time, so when there's one that's not, then we'll try to go to one. I also didn't get to updating Jordan's baby book. I decided to wait until I needed to go to Costco (for pictures), so I wouldn't have to take more than one trip. I got some learning activities and treats done. We also were able to have a date night and a friend get together. I decided not to do a craft project, but I did complete another photo book.

Scott's work Christmas party was delayed until January and it was pizza and bowling. We dropped Kylie and Jordan off with my mom and it was good that we didn't have to worry about the kids while we were there. It was fun to bowl, since it had been forever, and get to know Scott's co-workers (and boss) a little more.

I am so glad that our friend get together was to the temple. It was scheduled for Friday, January 9th, which was the same week we brought Jordan home. We wanted to make sure he was eating fine before we even thought about going. By the time Friday came, he was doing well enough that we would be okay with leaving, but Scott still had a pretty bad cough. I had told our friends that I would go, but Scott would skip since he was sick. I thought about it and I really wanted Scott to come with me. My mom came to watch the kids and everybody was so excited to see Scott once we showed up at the temple. It was such a fun surprise for them and it was really great to do a session with everyone. We went to the Jordan River temple as it is going to be renovated here soon. It's going to change so much that it won't look the same, which I'm a little sad about, but Scott thinks it's cool that no one will be able to get married in the old look of the temple. I'm very curious to see how it will look when it's finished (in 18 months).

Like I said in the previous post, I'm doing an activity with Kylie every Wednesday. I didn't do one this last week as I was feeling sick, but I had Kylie do some painting and then made some Jell-O play dough. It was really easy to make and stays soft for a while.
For treats, we made M&M cookies, sugar cookies, cupcakes and brownies. I only got pictures of the sugar cookies and cupcakes. I had a lot of fun making the cupcakes as they were for dinner to celebrate Brita and Dean's birthday. I made two different kinds of batter (banana and chocolate) and then decorated them like a sundae. I found some leftover sugar cookie dough from November, so I pulled that out along with every cookie cutter we have. Kylie had a lot of fun decorating them and eating the frosting, which is also her favorite part of a cupcake.
I am having so much fun making these photo books. I work on them whenever I can, but I get so engrossed, so it's nice to have some "me time".
Well, that's January's goals! I'm still doing good at doing dishes every night, so now I'm working on getting laundry folded and put away within one day after washing. I also am going to work on keeping clothes and shoes picked up around the house. I hope February goes just as well!
