Weekly Wednesday Recap

I have two days left until I get induced and we meet baby Jordan!!  I am so tired that it makes it hard to make sure that everything is ready before the baby comes.  I did some light cleaning today and I need to grocery shop tomorrow and then I'll be ready!  It will be surprising if anything happens tomorrow as not even sweeping, mopping and vacuuming did anything today.  I still have a few nerves since I've never been induced before, but I also have a feeling that everything will be okay.
38 Weeks.
This picture is from over a month ago, but when we were setting up the crib, Kylie went in with her baby dolls one morning and climbed into the crib.  She sure was proud of herself for getting in there!
Kylie loves to brush her teeth and she'll do only do it while sitting on our bathroom counter.  It provides me time to be able to do my hair and makeup at the same time.  One day, she got finished before me and so I gave her an empty blush container and a brush and she pretended to put on makeup.  It was so stinking cute to see her do that.  She is definitely watching and observing everything Scott and I do.
Kylie is also still into painting and coloring.  She'll grab crayons out of the large desk and then head to her small desk to color.  When I don't want to deal with a huge mess, I put an apron on Kylie and let her paint at the table.  She does really well at not painting the table or chair, but she still will paint her hands and sometimes her face.  I need to start increasing her art supplies and find activities she can do while I'm taking care of the baby.
Helping paint the baby's dresser knobs.
Kylie is also becoming a little helper in the kitchen.  Most of the time, she'll help for a few minutes and then start eating the ingredients. Haha.  She helps make pancakes, french toast, smoothies, macaroni and cheese and now cookies!  She also helps sprinkle cheese on things.
Last week we decided to go out to eat as a family, since we probably won't actually go out to a restaurant any time soon after the baby is here.  We used a gift card and went to Olive Garden.  The food was delicious, but Kylie was a little whiny the whole time.  She didn't eat much and kept saying she was "all done", but since we didn't let her down she got upset.  We still have some gift certificates to the movies and I think another restaurant, so maybe we'll have a date night after the baby comes.
Love these two.

37 Weeks

It is surreal how close we are to meeting the newest member of our family!  I'm excited, but I'm also feeling very unprepared.  Maybe it's because I have these little things to finish still and with Kylie, we had things bought and ready months ahead of time.  It is hard to imagine how much our lives are going to change when this new baby gets here.  Instead of a family of 3, we're going to become a family of 4! It is exciting to think about that.

At my doctor's appointment two weeks ago, my doctor mentioned that because I'm a second-time mom I could be induced if I wanted to.  I told Scott and we started thinking about how maybe it could be a good idea as there was worry if I would go into labor while Scott was in school or work.  There are a lot of unknown facts with induction and committing definitely took some thought.  Since I wasn't induced with Kylie, there is always the worry of how my body will handle induction.  Kylie's birth went great and I want a repeat of that.  However, I really didn't want to go into labor while Scott was in the middle of class and had an hour drive ahead of him or while he was at work and couldn't leave quickly.  We had one date in mind that we were going to talk to the doctor about (September 25th), but it made me nervous because it took off a whole week!  I started getting scared that he would be here so soon and I didn't feel ready.  When we talked to the doctor at my last appointment on Monday, he said that the 25th wouldn't work as I wouldn't be 39 weeks and the hospital is very strict about that.  So, October 2nd was our only other option.  It's two days before my due date, but it's nice to know that there is an end date rather then wondering when he could come (like Kylie, who was 3 days late).  October 2nd is a Friday, so Scott will take work off beforehand and I told my mom, who can make herself available to watch Kylie.  Who knows if this baby will come before my induction date, but for right now we'll be meeting little Jordan Dean on October 2nd!

Here's my last questionnaire before the baby comes!

Catching Up

This will be a catch-up post, so it will be a little random with information as well as a place to just post cute pictures.

Scott has been in school for two weeks now. He is in his second semester of graduate school.  The classes he's taking is making him realize that he pretty much will be a doctor when he's graduated.  One of his classes is pharmacology and part of that is writing prescriptions, which makes him realize how much responsibility will be on him when he becomes a nurse practitioner.  He's a little nervous about it, but I'm super excited for him.  We attended a new graduate dinner just on Thursday (the 10th) down at BYU.  We listened to some speakers, got a free dinner and had a chance to win some prizes (which we didn't win any).  My mom watched Kylie while we were there and it was a little date night for us.
Scott at the grad fair before the dinner.
Two weeks ago, I had a girls night out with 3 former room-mates from a semester at college.  I've seen and hung out with Amanda, Janora and Elissa separately, but it was so fun to hang out with all of them together.  We went out to dinner and then went mini-golfing!  It was a blast and I'm so grateful that they are all still good friends.
Kylie also received her first haircut a week ago! One of her nursery leaders is a hair stylist and we invited her and her husband over for dinner one night.  It was great to get to know them a little better as we really don't hang out with anyone in the ward.  Kylie got some cute bangs and a small trim on the back of her hair to even it out.  She looks adorable in bangs and the hair is out of her eyes. We  love it.
Kylie is also becoming a lot better about doing art projects!  She is not putting things in her mouth as much, so I'm not as nervous to hand her a pen, pencil or paintbrush.  She loves to paint, but it can be a hassle with the set up and clean up, so it's not an every day thing.  I've kept the crayons hidden, but I think I'm going to pull them out as she just wants to color every time she sees paper and a pen/pencil.
Kylie has also started wearing our shoes whenever she sees them.  Mostly, she'll wear Scott's shoes, but she has worn mine once or twice.  It's cute to see her so excited to put them on and walk around in them.
Let's see...I think that's about it for August!  It's September now and this baby is coming in 3 weeks!  I'll post a baby update tomorrow when I'm 37 weeks.  Our life is sure about to change real soon.

My Dream Come True

Two days after we returned from California, we went to the Davis County Fair.  I saw an ad for it on Facebook and remembered that Brita told me this is where you can ride an elephant.  So, I looked up their website and it's true!!  There was no way I was going to pass up this opportunity, so we went the only day that we could.  It was seriously the best day ever. There's no fee to get into the fair, but there is to park, however we got $2 off for bringing in some canned goods.  Brita and her kids were already there and my mom was going to show up later.  When we showed up, we spent quite a bit of time checking out the contest sheep, goats and pigs.  For some reason, Kylie was really hesitant in getting up close with some of the animals, but she kept pointing to want to see them.
We checked out a few booths and then walked over to where the elephant rides were.
The elephant ride was $10 per person (Kylie was free) and I was nervous that they wouldn't let me on because I'm pregnant.  Even though I was nervous, I was also determined to make them let me on.  When it was our turn, they didn't even take a second glance that I was pregnant. I got to ride in front and it was amazing!!  I was able to pet the top of the elephant's head and just bask in the glow of accomplishing my number 1 bucket list item.  I held in the tears of how happy I was, but I probably should have just let them flow.  The rides are really short, but we got to spend a little longer on our ride because the elephant got a quick spray down with water.  Again, it really was the best day ever.
My favorite picture.  She was posing for us!
After our elephant ride, we watched and took pictures while Brita and her kids took a ride.  My mom showed up when we finished and we found some seats for the elephant show that was starting.  The elephant show was super fun to watch as well.
After the elephant show, we headed to the free pony rides and were able to quickly get on before they took a break.  Kylie rode the pony all by herself and she loved it.
While my mom took Kylie to look at some more animals, Scott and I wandered around for something to eat.  We wanted a fair-only food and we found truck with lots of deep-fried options.  I was originally going to go with the Oreos since those are a classic and I've never had them before, but I saw that they had cheesecake and couldn't resist.  I'm so glad that I got the cheesecake and it was so delicious!!  I couldn't finish all of it because it was so rich, but it was worth the price.  Scott went with a deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but it wasn't anything special.
After getting our treats, we headed over to the tiger show! This is a new show this year at the fair and it was fine.  I was mostly impressed with the trainer that was in the cage with 6 tigers.  There was one tiger that was a little stubborn, so it was kind of funny to see that.  It was a little hard to see and take pictures with the cage they were in.
After the tiger show, we headed back to the elephant rides so my mom could ride with Kylie.  Kylie got to ride in front this time and had fun (I think).
After the elephant ride, we headed home.  It was a long and hot, but wonderful day.  One that I will always remember.
