California Vacation Day 5: Safari Park

Saturday, August 8th, we made sure to get some rest, so we didn't start heading down to San Diego until around 10.  David & Kristene were planning on coming to the Safari Park with us, but after dropping Andrew off and ordering Kylie's birthday cake from Costco, they decided it was too late to drive all the way down.  We picked up Brianna, Kyle and Kyle's mom (to get us in for free) and headed to the Safari Park.  Brianna and Kyle's sister-in-law met up with us there to get us in for free as well.  It was so nice of them to stop by and do that for us.  We headed straight to watch the bird show and met up with our friend Austin!  He was also in Escondido visiting his sister and found out we were in town by the picture of us at the beach I posted on Facebook.  I met Austin at BYU-Idaho and Scott met him through a class at UVU.  He is the one that threw the ugly sweater party that we met at.  It was great to chat with him and see that things are going good.  He had to leave to go to a baseball game and we rode the tram.  We checked out some other animals and then left around 5.  After a few days of packed activities, I was starting to feel a little worn out.  I'm glad we got in for free or else I would have wanted to stay longer to make sure we got our money's worth and possibly over do it.  Scott wanted to make dinner, so we made chicken parmesan (the quick version with frozen chicken patties).  We were going to grill donuts, but saved it for the next day.  Everyone, but me, jumped into the pool and Kylie had a blast.  They have a tiny slide that goes straight in and she loved going down that over and over.  It was dark outside, so I didn't take any pictures, but I'm sure I could have by using a flash.  Oh well.  It was a fun day with family.
The gorillas were the funnest animal to watch.
Kylie was super excited to see the tigers!
