Catch up time!

I've gotten behind on blogging and I need to catch up on the last two weeks. Not too much has happened, but enough that I want to talk about it.  The first week of May was spent recovering from my party and hanging out with Scott's family. On Wednesday, May 4th, a lot of people refer to it as "May the fourth be with you" as a play on "may the force be with you" from Star Wars. Lane & his kids are Star Wars fans and so we headed to the in-laws house to watch the newest movie in their newly remodeled home theater! It is so fun to go there and have that to watch movies in. It looks great and now they want to watch movies all the time. I don't blame them because if I had one, I would probably do the same!
The next day was Cinco De Mayo and Scott's work was having a party. He had the day off and we headed over there to join in the festivities. He has a co-worker who always has a candy bowl and she brought a pinata! We got there just in time and Kylie took a few hits and then they gave it to Scott to finish up. Becky was in town and so after that we headed to the in-laws house to eat, play games and watch a movie. It was a fun day.
Scott worked on Friday and I stayed home as Jordan and Kylie had hand foot and mouth disease! We noticed Kylie complaining of her feet hurting on Tuesday morning. We couldn't see anything, so we weren't sure what was going on. Later that night, we noticed spots on her hands and feet. After some research, we determined it was hand foot and mouth and that it was really contagious. Two of Brita's kids got it, but luckily this disease isn't too bad. Jordan had a few bad nights, but other than that, they never noticed the spots or complained.
Poor guy got it all over his mouth, arms and legs. Much worse than Kylie.
On Saturday, we headed to Brita's in the evening and had a game night. We like playing Bang! together. Sunday was Mother's Day and I didn't go to church since Kylie & Jordan still had spots. Per request, Scott brought home my mother's day cheesecake. We headed to grandma's for dinner and played games there too.
I got these for all the grandma's.
Kylie & Scott made me pancakes!
Monday, the 9th, I got my mother's day present of a pedicure! I also was able to go grocery shopping by myself. It goes much faster when there aren't kids to slow you down. After that, Becky was leaving in the early afternoon and so we all ate lunch together and hung out until she left. We stayed for dinner and then left so Scott could play soccer. On Thursday the 12th, Scott and I were able to have a date night! My mom stopped by after work and we went to go see Captain America: Civil War and then went out for dinner. It was a really good movie and fun to spend time with Scott alone.

One day, Kylie asked about grandpa Jack and where he was. I told her he was in Missouri and asked if she wanted to talk to him and grandmama Roberta. She excitedly said yes and so we skyped with them. As we were talking, thoughts came into my mind about Roberta and her weight loss. I brought up wanting to lose weight and asked her for help and to be my coach. She said she would be happy too and I am almost done with my first week! It is a lot harder than I thought to actually think about what I was eating. I also didn't realize how often I was eating. I was snacking a lot and it wasn't always healthy food. I also kept complaining about being out of shape and I'm glad that I decided I was done with that. It feels good to start exercising again. I'm using this app called sworkit and it has a bunch of different exercises with videos to show you how to do them. You can create custom workouts with custom lengths. The only thing is that it gives you 5 seconds between each exercise. At first, I wasn't sure about that, but now I'm realizing that it gives me a better workout with only 5 seconds in between as it keeps me moving. I'm so glad to have Roberta's help and that she is willing to help in any way that I need. Right now, I'm texting her snacks I eat and pictures of meals. It helps to be accountable for what I eat. I have a goal to lose 25 pounds by the end of September. I sure hope I can do well enough to get there and then truly feel good about my body. Here's to being healthy!

Emily's 30th Birthday!

I don't think there's one negative thing I can think of that happened on my birthday. It was a great day from the start. Scott took us to get donuts and then we headed to Zurcher's to pick up the balloons. When we got home, I opened presents from Scott. For lunch, Scott took Kylie to play at McDonald's while I stayed home to relax and finish cleaning for the party. Scott brought lunch home for me and then we finished setting up for the party! It really was a good day.
Love this picture of Kylie while we were setting up the photo booth background.
Testing it out!
Mad we weren't going in right away.
Of course she chose a pink doughnut, but she loved the doughnut holes the best.
Jordan will be so happy once he can eat everything.
Selfie with Jordan!
Opening presents.
Oh yeah, I was able to take a nap too. It's my birthday, I can do what I want!
Kylie stole 3 cupcakes before the party started.
Here's Jordan with the curtain. He loved it,
I went back and forth a lot on what I wanted to do for my birthday. It was such a big occasion; turning 30 on April 30th! I kept trying to decide if doing a big activity or a party would be better. I decided that I wanted to celebrate with as many people as possible, so a party it was. It was easy to decide on the theme of gold since it was my golden birthday (the age you'll be is the same as your birth day). I took to pinterest (as with all parties I plan) and got to searching. I wanted it to look classy, but after going to Zurcher's (party store) and seeing what gold items they had, Scott reminded me that I'm turning 30, not 50. I guess gold is the color for a 50th anniversary. So, instead of a muted gold, I went with the fun and bright gold and I love how it all turned out!! The decorations were noticeable, but not overboard and there was something in every party of the house. My favorite decoration were the large number balloons. They were super expensive though ($8 each!), but totally worth it. Here's some pictures of the decor.
We tied balloons to the jars with flowers in them. The balloons were a perfect addition.
I spray painted mason jars & we planted flowers in them.
The dessert table!
The food table. I found the sign for free online and it was perfect!

The kitchen decorations!
Cupcakes!
I put straws & forks in mason jars.
This curtain lasted two minutes after guests arrived. Oh well, Jordan had fun with it.
Flowers from Andrew & Rebecca and all my photo books!
Gold tassels on the fireplace.
They only had one table skirt at Zurcher's to use. It looks a little funny, but it worked.
Photo props that I downloaded, printed and cut out.
A few people weren't able to make it, but there was still a great turn out and everybody was able to participate in all the activities. With activities, I had hoped that the weather would be nice for us to do things outside, but it was chilly and so the only outside activity was bubbles at the very beginning (which was a huge hit with the kids). Since kids would be there too, any sort of game with teams would be out (we were thinking minute to win it type games). I knew I wanted a photo booth, but that isn't something that would last the whole party. One day at a work meeting, Scott learned of this website called kahoot.it and made a quiz about me for people to take. We put the quiz up on the TV and people answered the questions using their smart phone. It was so much fun and my friend Amanda won with the highest score. For food we had two large Big Daddy's 26" pizzas, golden apples, nacho cheese fountain & chips, cupcakes, golden birthday cake Oreos, & cake.
Bubble party!
I had the same lady who made Kylie's 1st birthday cake make this one. I should've taken one without so much background so you could see the sign better.
Invitation I mailed out to everyone.
The photo booth was a lot of fun! I made sure that everyone went downstairs to get in a picture. It was my only way to make sure pictures were taken. I bribed Aaron (with pins from Disneyland) to bring his nice camera and take pictures for me. They turned out great and I love having the memory of who celebrated with me.
Cute picture of Brooke.
