April was a busy and interesting month. Jordan had his 18-month doctor's appointment on the 3rd and afterwards, we went to Arctic Circle and the kids played at the play place. Then on the 5th, Jordan had a dermatologist appointment and we hit the zoo after since it's right down the street.
On the 6th, we had a play date at the park with friends after preschool and Friday was spent at the in-laws house. Saturday, we spent the night playing games with our friends James and Nichole. We don't hang out with our friends as often just because everyone is so busy, but it's nice when we do get together. On the 9th, something crazy happened and it snowed! It was sad because it killed our apricot and plum blossoms and there were a lot. The kids had fun playing in the snow, though.
On Tuesday the 10th, we went to Jungle Jim's with Brita's family. Kylie had fun playing there with her cousins and was upset when we had to leave because Jordan needed a nap. I love that this place is $2 every Tuesday of the year. It is a fun place to go.
On Friday the 14th, as we were leaving the house, we noticed that a big section of our fence had fallen down! There was a huge windstorm the night before, but I didn't hear our fence blow down. We called USAA and talked with home insurance and found out that our fence and roof (a lot of shingles blew off as well) were covered. All of that became fixed a few weeks later as it kept raining, so they couldn't do any work until it stopped. I'll post a picture of our new fence in a later post.
I also noticed a huge leak that was in Jordan's room earlier in the month as well. We had a good friend come over and check it out and temporarily fix it. We told insurance about it and they were able to also fix that part as well.
We also stopped and fed the horses down the street. This was the first time that Jordan was able to participate in feeding them. This is such a fun and quick activity while we're on our way out or coming home.
Here's a few random pictures of Jordan & Kylie from the month.

My mom pulled out the marble tracks that I played with when I was younger. The kids love playing with it when we go over for Sunday dinners. |
|
April was a confusing month for weather. Jordan's chewing on a bottle of sunscreen. |
|
Jordan loves to paint. It's fun to watch him get so excited to color(as he says). |
|
He fell asleep on the couch two days in a row. Funny kid. |
|
He loves to brush his teeth! |
|
He loved seeing the rainbow string art at the BYU art museum. |
|
Yes, we gave in and let the kids take a ride on one of those mall rides. |
|
Kylie's doughnut she earned from her chart. |
|
We filled up two rows and then regressed, so we took a month break and are starting from square one again. |

Kylie is into playing games now, which is fun to see. |
My birthday was on a Sunday and we went to church and then headed down to Scott's parents house for dinner, cake and games. It was a fun evening and then Scott and I had a date night the next night. We went to Red Robin for dinner and did some shopping. We thought about seeing a movie, but there wasn't anything out that was worth the money to spend. I got an awesome gift of a new phone and I love it. I love having a phone with a camera that takes more quality pictures than my old phone. I also went on a clothes shopping spree and it's nice to have new clothes that actually fit and look good on me. I sure did get spoiled for my birthday this year. I hope I can do the same for Scott.
I'm glad that April was filled with good times as we found out some very sobering news on the 19th. Throughout Scott's semester at BYU, we realized that Scott was not being given a fair chance in his clinical setting. Instead of two clinical sites he had to have 4 to be able to receive all his hours, which made the grading of how he's doing unfair (since his hours were not equal with all the clinics). So, on the 19th he was told that he did not pass his clinical class and was officially kicked out of the graduate program. So, here we are at square one again with him getting his nurse practitioner degree. It stinks to know that we spent so much money and time and energy into him getting into school with it to just end up like this. I also don't like the affect it had on Scott and his confidence in himself and his skills. It's too bad that BYU did this as it now gives the school a sour taste to us. For now, we are enjoying time together as a family and are counting our blessings that we did not end up with any debt coming out of this. So, Scott is just going to keep working (and maybe look for another job) and look at all his options for other schools to get his degree. We are hopeful that the right school and situation will come along and trust that everything happens for a reason (
although it is so hard to know what that is right now). Other activities in the month, including Easter, will be done on separate posts!
