13 Week Picture

I figured I should probably start taking some belly pictures.  I've seen some people take pictures of their belly weekly, but I don't think I'll remember to do it.  I do want to make sure I take enough pictures that it shows progress because that will be fun to look back on.

To me, I feel like my belly is already obviously sticking out, but in looking at the pictures, it just looks like I have a belly from never working out.  It will be interesting to see at what week I do start showing.  Especially since I have not told anyone at my school that I am pregnant yet.  We'll see if I do it when we find out the sex of the baby or until people start asking (and wondering if I'm getting fat). ;)

Oh, hey husband! Nice try...I don't see a belly.
Ugh...I better start looking more round soon.
Eh...not too bad. I can handle looking at this picture.

The First of Many "Baby" Posts

I am so relieved and happy to have finally announced our exciting news!  It is honestly the reason why I did not blog for a month.  One, my morning sickness was awful, so I was always super exhausted and Two, there was nothing I wanted to talk about except baby stuff.  I am glad that I can now talk freely without worry of giving our secret away.  Scott & I did tell our families early on and few close friends, but to the facebook world, we wanted to wait.  I wanted to do something cute to announce it just because it is more fun.  Of course I went to pinterest for ideas on ways to announce and found two that I really liked.  I decided to take both and combine them together! I got a little worried on how I would put it together, but I found out I have this photo creation program on my computer and I used that.  I am so happy with how it turned out!

I had my first doctor's appointment a week and a half ago (feels like forever) and everything went well.  Before the appointment, I had found out that I had the exact same doctor as my sister-in-law Brita!  What a small world. Anyways, the main thing Scott & I wanted to find out at the appointment was how far along I was.  This is technically my second pregnancy.  I found out I was pregnant in September and had a miscarriage the end of October.  I did think about writing a post multiple times, but I just never really knew what to say about it.  It was emotional, but we got through it fine.  Anyways, I didn't have a period from when I had the miscarriage and when I got pregnant, so there wasn't a date I could go by at all to even come close to figuring out how far along I was.  Scott & I were actually a few weeks off on our guesses.  We thought I was 7-8 weeks, but the ultrasound said 11-13 weeks. We were shocked!  The ultrasound I had at the first doctor's appointment was quick and they scheduled me for a full scan one the next day.
Ultrasound of baby at 10 weeks & 5 days!!!
It is hard to describe how I felt when I saw the baby, but it was definitely a moment of awe.  I could see a head, feet, a nose, and there was a hand waving at me!  It still feels surreal at times to think that I have a baby inside of me and who knows when that reality will set in.

Things are going great, though.  I got some medication to help with my morning sickness, but I still throw up every so often.  I can actually eat regular foods now without my stomach churning.  I don't really have a lot of cravings that pop up out of the blue.  Usually I'll crave something if I see a picture of it.  Just yesterday I was watching TV and a commercial for mayonnaise came on and the guy was making a BLT.  I hadn't had dinner yet and once I saw that, it was all I wanted to eat.  We didn't have any bacon, lettuce, or tomato so making it at home was out of the question.  Luckily I have an awesome husband who picked one up for me on the way home.  Going grocery shopping without a list is always bad news because I'll just walk around the store and pick up whatever looks good, meaning I'll buy way more than I should.

Oh, it is so much fun talking about baby stuff!  Hope you don't get too tired of hearing all about it and if you do, well too bad b/c this is my blog! ;)

Friday High-Five

I really gotta start posting this on the actual day of Friday, so my title won't be a lie.  Anyways, it's been a while since I've done a high five for Friday post, so here we go.

1. TGIF!! I have a 4-day weekend from school because it was the last day of the semester Thursday and it's a holiday on Monday!  Scott also has the whole weekend off too, so we get to spend lots of time together. Woo-hoo!

2.  This happened a couple weeks ago (I think) and I wanted to say something about it, but didn't think it needed its own post.  Scott came home from work one day with this letter in his hand from a patient.  Apparently this patient had a severe case of the hiccups that just would not go away to where the guy couldn't sleep.  Scott did everything he could and found some sort of medication to relieve him of his hiccups.  The guy was so grateful that he wrote a note.
You could probably click on the picture to read it better.  He has also gotten other little notes from patients (which he still has to give me) saying what a great nurse he is.  It just makes me smile that Scott found a career that is perfect for him.

3.  I didn't post a picture in my last post of my sewing machine, so here is one.  Yes, it is a Project Runway Special Edition sewing machine.  Isn't it pretty?!

4.  It is still cold and snowy here.  Because we had such a mild winter last year, I'm not too surprised that it is more cold and snowy, but it does not mean that I enjoy it.  I actually could have gotten a snow day from school (which is super rare) last Friday, but the superintendent of our district made the wrong call and even apologized for it the next day.  I wasn't too surprised that he was wrong, since he is wrong on almost every other decision he makes.  It snowed 27 inches that day.

5.  I got a gift card to Maurice's (my favorite store) from my dad & Roberta for Christmas and headed out to spend it.  I've been wanting boots for a while, but you can't really find cheap ones anywhere (lowest I've seen is $40), so I've put off buying a pair for a while.  Maurice's came through (like usual) and I got a cute new pair of boots that I'm excited to wear (it did help that I had a gift card to buy them, so thanks dad!).  Scott said that they make me look rich when I wear them, so score!

Catch-up Time!

Wow, it has been a long time since I blogged last hasn't it?  It's been hard for me to write during the Christmas season, but I will do my best at a catch-up post.

One night before Christmas, Kyle & Brianna invited Scott & I to go and see the lights at Thanksgiving Point.  I love looking at and taking pictures of lights, so we said yes.  We had dinner beforehand and then piled into one car to drive through the lights.  It cost $8 per car to take a 10 minute tour of these lights.  I honestly thought it would be a lot bigger and longer.  It was pretty short and you could see pretty much the whole entire light display as you were driving to get in line to go in.  I thought it was a waste of money, but it was fun to hang out and talk with Brianna & Kyle.

Christmas then came and went rather quickly.  I have no pictures of any part of Christmas which I can say is totally my fault and there are no excuses.  The Sunday before Christmas, we all gathered at Andrew & Rebecca's and had dinner and played games.  Andrew even pulled out the N64 and we played some old school Mario Kart which was fun.  I was even such a slacker that instead of making dessert to bring, I brought all the treats we got from neighbors and from my students. How's that for lazy?  Christmas Eve, we went to the Bitner's for the traditional Christmas Eve gathering for the Omer family.  We had dinner and a white elephant gift exchange.  It usually lasts a long time, but it was shorter this time because of the lack of numbers.  Scott & I ended up with horrible white elephants.  We came away with this gift that's been circulating through the families, meaning I have to keep it until next year when some other poor family gets the privilege(?) of having it.  We also came away with a Obama chocolate-scented soap head.  Yeah, we got nothing good. Haha.

Scott was supposed to work Christmas eve/morning from 1am-7am, but he was put on-call instead and didn't have to work!  Christmas morning started out with us waking up early and opening our stockings and presents.  Scott was a great husband (as always) and got me a sewing machine!  Poor guy tried to keep it a surprise, but I saw it in the back of his car one day.  Although, I do have to say he probably got it more for him since I can make things for him or hem his clothes.  I haven't used it yet, but I have a feeling I'll be using it quite often in the coming months. I'll also take a picture of it too because it is very pretty.  We then headed over to grandma's and had our traditional breakfast of a cherry cheese roll, eggs, sausage and hot chocolate.  We opened presents and then everyone (except Aaron, he was sick) headed over to our house.  Kyle & Scott played Halo 4 while Brianna, mom and I played the Logo Board game.  Everyone then left to head to Andrew & Rebecca's, but we stayed home since it's such a long drive and we saw them on Sunday anyway.  Other than that, it was a pretty chill Christmas.

Again, no pictures because I'm a slacker, but we headed over to Brita & Lane's for New Years.  Scott had to work new years, but got off by 8:30.  Kyle, Brianna and mom came over also and we all played games and ate snacks.  Scott bought a party set at Wal-Mart on the way home from work, so we had hats and noise makers that were quite loud and probably woke some people up when it turned midnight.  There were lots of fireworks going off that night as well.  We left Brita & Lane's around 1:30am.  We really had no plans, so it was nice that something came together.

Other than that, school is back in session for me and Scott is working.  I was thinking that since it is a new year that it's always fun to reflect back on the past year on all that happened and a lot definitely happened for Scott & I.  I'm sure that I blogged about everything, so I don't want to post pictures, but here's a quick list on what the Fletcher family did in the year 2012 (most likely not in order of when things happened).

*We bought our first home!! What a momentous occasion this was and we are still happy with it.
*We brought Maddie home from the humane society and she is the best kitty.
*Road trip to see sister Brianna get married to Kyle in San Diego, California.
