High Five for Friday

1. I'm trying to be better at making meals at home.  I don't always make every meal I plan for, but I'm getting better.  I found this recipe for homemade bagel bites on one of my favorite blog sites and it was a great quick night meal.

2. What can I say about Scott that I haven't already said?  I've been having a rough time going back to school.  It's a combination of knowing that I'm not at home with Kylie and getting the students to respect me.  It's hard to come back after the students had 7 weeks with a substitute.  I also think my hormones have been a little crazy too.  I've been getting upset over the littlest things and just unhappy every day.  I had a break down a few days ago and Scott was so good to not let me pout and wallow in my sadness for too long.  I've realized that I need to have a better attitude when I go to school or else it is going to be a long 6 months until I'm done.  He bought me some beautiful flowers. I love that husband of mine so much.
3. I'm excited for the holidays coming up! Thanksgiving is next week and although it's later than usual, it still seems like it came up fast.  Christmas will be super fun because we are headed to California.  It will be nice for a vacation, but I am a little nervous to take Kylie on a road trip.  I've heard it's easier to take babies because all they do us sleep, so I hope that's the case with Kylie.  I just can't wait to spend some time away from work and focus on just Kylie and Scott.

4. I ordered this great family birthday board from this lady on facebook.  I could have made it myself, but with some crafts, it's easier to just let someone else do it.  The yellow isn't exactly the color I was looking for and the brown is a little dark.  I wanted a more light yellow to match the entry room walls.  I think I'll still be able to find a place for it, but it won't be where I originally wanted it.
5. LaCaille came and went.  The students loved seeing Kylie again.  I was a little disappointed in the food this time, so hopefully it will be better in the spring because it will be my last time!
Kylie's face cracks me up!
Kylie has a fascination with sticking her tongue out.
Love their matching hats.

High Five for Friday

1. The GRE test is finally out of the way for Scott!  He looked up his scores for the computer portion and they are in the average range.  He won't know his essay score for another week or so.  Now, he just needs to finish his application to BYU for a masters in nursing.  We will see come January if he gets in!

2. Having Kylie at home made it a little difficult for Scott to study during the day, so the day before his test, I took Kylie to school with me all day.  We were both a little nervous since she can be fussy sometimes, but she did great!  The kids all loved her and Kylie loved to smile at them.  During my Teen Living class, I had us do an activity and Kylie was just talking the whole time.  She even waited to eat until I had my lunch!  She was such a good baby and it was so much fun to have her at school with me.
Staring at herself in the giant mirror in the kitchen.
3. Scott & I got new callings in our ward.  It was a little funny/awkward how we found out.  I went to church without Scott since he had worked the night before and didn't come home until late in the morning.  I headed off to Sunday School and there were two sisters already sitting in the classroom.  I asked if they were having a class in there and they said yes.  I asked which and they said the 16-17 year olds.  We were all so confused as I had no idea we were released since no one had come and talked to us, but these two ladies had been told that they were supposed to teach that Sunday.  I talked to the bishop later and he apologized.
Anyway, Scott is the deacons quorum adviser and in Scouts now and I am a Relief Society visiting teaching supervisor.  That means that I have to call everyone and find out if they did their visiting teaching that month.  I am not the biggest fan of calling people on the phone.  Especially with what I have to ask them.  Scott's calling is going to be new and different for us.  There are a lot of obligations with Scouting and it's definitely hard with Scott's work schedule being night shifts and on the weekends.  I do know that if Scott gets into school, he most likely wouldn't be able to keep up with the calling on top of school and work.  I think he'll have fun though because there are so many deacons (about 12 right now!).

4. Kylie and I went to celebrate her cousin Dylan's first birthday the other day.  Dylan had fun playing with Kylie and it will be even more fun when she can play back.
5. A couple weeks ago I used a buy one get one free coupon to get some cupcakes from The Sweet Tooth Fairy.  It was the most tastiest, delicious cupcake I've ever had in my life.  Seriously, I usually do not like chocolate cake or cupcakes, but if I could only eat one flavor of cupcake for the rest of my life, it would be this one.  The chocolate cake was so moist unlike some cupcakes which are really dense.  Top that cake with peanut butter frosting, pretzels and drizzled chocolate and caramel and you have heaven in your mouth!  I wanted to go and buy one of those again the next day I loved it so much.  Too bad cupcakes aren't good for an every day diet, but this will be the cupcake I'm getting for any special occasion from now on.
The picture doesn't do it justice. I have bad lighting.

3 Month Pictures

I forgot to post the pictures I took of Kylie when she turned 3 months.  Here they are!

3 Months

Kylie is 3 months now! It is crazy how fast time flies.  I hear people say it all the time about their kids, but I didn't really understand until now.  Kylie is still growing and just being the best baby for Scott & I.

Some things about Kylie:
  • She loves to squeal/scream now! When she gets super excited, she squeals very loud.  I can't help but laugh and Scott has screaming matches with her.
  • She still loves tummy time.  She sometimes acts a little disinterested in rolling over, so I wonder when she'll start to roll over all the time.
  • Kylie likes to play with her toys now.  She really focuses on the toy in front of her face then brings it to her mouth to chew on.
  • She likes to chew on her hands.
  • She can sit up really well now.
  • Kylie likes to stand and dance.
  • We are still trying to get her on a more consistent sleeping schedule.  She is sleeping longer at night then she used to, but has trouble napping during the day.
  • She is still a happy, smiley baby.
I caught Kylie sucking her thumb one day.  She hasn't done it since.

Meeting Second Cousins

Saturday, I attended a bridal shower for my cousin Alice.  I arrived early to help my mom put together a cupcake wedding dress.  I think it turned out okay.  The frosting wasn't as hard as it should have been, so it started falling apart.  It was also a little challenging to find something to put across the middle.  My mom bought some beads, but they just didn't look good.  Brianna and I tried to think of something and I think it worked just fine.

My cousin Laura, my cousin's wife Jessica and I all had a baby within 3 weeks of each other.  Laura had her baby first, Jessica had hers 5 days later and I had mine 2 weeks later.  It's pretty fun that we all have babies the same age.  Alice's bridal shower was a great opportunity for us to finally have all our babies in the same vicinity.  I felt a little bad though that a lot of the conversation was around the babies instead of Alice since we were there because of her.  We tried getting pictures of all of us, but Kylie was sleeping and woke up and was crying.  So, we did the best we could. :)

Halloween

Halloween this year was not as eventful as last year when we threw a party for friends.  I made sugar cookies again at school which always wears me out.  Using the dough that I demonstrated, I made cookies along with the students.  There was so much that I sent Scott with 6 plates worth of cookies to work, gave some to co-workers and still had leftovers to bring home.

Since Scott had to work that night, the evening was spent with Kylie and I hanging on the couch passing out candy.  Kylie was dressed up in her strawberry costume that my mom bought her and I made sure to hold her when I opened the door so people could see.  Halloween will be more fun when Kylie can actually go trick or treating.
