August Activities

Some other fun things happened in August that I'm going to document here.  Scott and I celebrated our 6-year anniversary! We planned to go out to dinner and a movie, but the movie wasn't one we were too interested in and we weren't sure where we wanted to eat out. We were at Scott's parents house and didn't know all that was down in that area. Scott suggested getting Chinese food and renting a redbox and watching it in the theater room. There weren't any movies at redbox, but we bought Batman vs. Superman. It worked well until I started falling asleep during the movie, so we put finishing it on hold. We've accomplished a lot in our 6 years of marriage together and I can't wait to see what else we'll accomplish in our life together. I'm excited for what's happening now, but I'm also excited to see what the future holds.
Playing games! Something we love to do together and with family.
All ready to watch the movie!
Cute dessert made by Scott's mom.
The first Tuesday of the month, we got invited to go to the Museum of Ancient Life (aka the dinosaur museum) by Brita. In August, Thanksgiving Point has $2 Tuesdays where anything there is only $2 admission. We got lucky and it was hardly busy so it was fun to check out. I had some trouble with the fact that Kylie wouldn't go potty at all until the very end when all of Brita's kids went potty. This potty training business sure puts some stress on situations. I hope it gets resolved soon. Anyway, Kylie had fun and we got some free mini ice cream cones to finish it off.

On our monthly Costco trip, we had fun looking at some of the Halloween decorations and the giant stuffed bears they have there.
On the 12th my mom, Kylie and I headed to Grantsville to get our hair cut by my cousin Melissa. It's a ways to drive for a haircut, but we were desperate and didn't know who else to go too. It worked out fine as only one other person was in the salon, so Kylie could play around a bit without being trouble. She did so great sitting in the chair and holding still while Melissa trimmed her hair. Since I'm not consistent about when I get my haircut, it might not be a big deal to make the trek out when I do need one.
On Tuesday the 16th I went to a girls night out with my friend Amanda. We follow this blog called fun, cheap or free on Facebook and Instagram. She lives here in Utah and a girls night out a month or so ago. My friend Amanda went to that one and it looked like a lot of fun! When I saw that tickets were on sale for the second one, I asked her if she wanted to come with me and she said yes! We went and it was fun! We played get to know you Bingo where you have to find someone to sign a square based on if they've done it or not. Apparently, I was the only person there who had run a marathon, so when Jordan (the person who runs the blog) pointed me out, there was a mad rush for me to sign everyone's paper! It was pretty funny. We had some yummy treats and then Jordan did a great presentation about confidence, motherhood and being positive. It was nice to have that and talk with other people feeling the same way. We played some games and then she had a raffle where I won a foot pedicure thing. It was a good girls night out.
Before we left to go to the Davis County Fair, we went to Kylie's preschool orientation. We are doing an in-home preschool (Busy Little Bee's) with someone in our ward. She is super nice and we used to be visiting teaching companions. She took the kids on a tour of the place and did a little scavenger hunt with them. Then they colored while the parents looked over all the paper work. We will be missing the first two days of school, as we'll be in California, but I can't wait for her to start. We already bought her a Frozen backpack. I think preschool will be so good for her and Kylie is excited for it as well.
Whew! I think that's it for August! We are getting ready to head off to California in the next couple of days! We have so many fun activities planned (Killian's baby blessing, the beach, Disneyland, hanging with Scott's brothers, etc.) and we can't wait.
